Someone has very rightly said that art is one of the finer pursuits of life. Art good or bad is ultimately an extension of thoughts, emotions, and ideas in a language that is universal and timeless, Jaipur Kala chaupal is a 14-day long artist residency and exhibition program that was started along this line of thought itself. The program intends to be the bridge between artists around the world so that a culmination of traditional and international art forms can take place to create something absolutely unique and interesting.
Being held at Diggi Palace, the program which is a one of a kind is a residency program for 10 days where artists from countries like Mexico, France, Lithuania and USA among many more will participate to engage in workshops, discussions, and excursions to co-create new pieces of art with emerging Indian artists which will then be put on display at the Jawahar Kala Kendra.
The program aims to introduce the resident artists to traditional forms of art like blue pottery and bandhini etc.
Confluence, Collaboration, and Conversations is the theme for this year. All the artwork that will be co-created by the resident and Indian artists will be based on the theme- Water.
The collaborative Jaipur Kala Chaupal is the brainchild of Premila Singh, Lineeka Jacob, and the Diggi Family. The core purpose of the festival is to align traditional arts/artists in India and give them continuity in the contemporary world. It has been carefully conceived to provide a unique opportunity to the established as well as emerging artists from various countries to explore the soul of art in India and be a catalyst for newer and original collaborative artistic expressions.
If you are interested in seeing how different mediums, styles, and artists come together to interpret the same message in a variety of different ways then head over to the Jawahar Kala Kendra for the exhibition that will be held from November 1 to November 4.
